Si è tenuta il 25 febbraio la 30ª edizione degli Screen Actors Guild Awards, evento organizzato dal sindacato statunitense degli attori. La cerimonia, avvenuta allo Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall di Los Angeles, per la prima volta è stata mandata in onda dal vivo su Netflix.
Oppenheimer ha trionfato, ottenendo i premi per il miglior cast cinematografico e per le migliori performance (Cillian Murphy e Robert Downey Jr).
Sul fronte televisivo Succession è stata giudicata la serie drammatica con il miglior ensemble e The Bear ha guadagnato la stessa statuetta per il genere commedia.
Fran Dresher, la presidente di SAG-AFTRA, ha menzionato i 118 giorni di sciopero degli attori, sottolineando l’importanza dell’accordo raggiunto per le generazioni a venire e ringraziando i membri del sindacato per la solidarietà dimostrata durante quella che ha definito “un’estate calda”.
Barbra Streisand è salita sul palco sulle note di Come eravamo per ritirare il riconoscimento alla carriera. L’attrice ha voluto ricordare la sua infanzia in un modesto appartamento di Brooklyn nel quale sognava il cinema per evadere dalla realtà.
La manifestazione non si è svolta sotto la guida di un unico presentatore, ma diversi volti di Hollywood si sono avvicendati sul palco per celebrare i trionfi dei colleghi.
