Lunedì 11 dicembre sono state annunciate le nomination di cinema e tv dei Golden Globe, con cerimonia di premiazione fissata al 7 gennaio 2024 al Beverly Hills Hotel di Los Angeles.

Questa 81esima edizione sarà la prima successiva alla dissoluzione della Hollywood Foreign Press Association che prima assegnava i premi. L’associazione che raggruppava i rappresentanti della stampa straniera a Hollywood infatti è stata travolta negli scorsi anni da diversi scandali che ne hanno denunciato la discriminazione e i favoritismi interni, portando a una serie di insuccessi dell’evento, ora nuovamente garantito dalla fondazione no profit Golden Globe.

Il cambio di gestione ha portato qualche novità, con l’istituzione di due nuove categorie di premiazione, quella per il miglior spettacolo di stand-up e quella per il miglior risultato al box office. Quest’ultima in particolare (che vede candidati film come Barbie e Oppenheimer ma anche titoli come The Super Mario Bros. Movie e Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour) ha suscitato perplessità dal momento che l’incasso è un dato oggettivo, perciò non è chiaro quali altri possano essere i criteri per l’assegnazione del premio.

A dominare la sezione cinematografica è Barbie di Greta Gerwig con 9 nomination di cui 3 per le canzoni, seguito a ruota da Oppeheimer di Christopher Nolan e Povere creature di Yorgos Lanthimos rispettivamente con 7 e 8 candidature. Per quanto riguarda la televisione invece, il maggior numero di nomination lo conquista Succession con 9 candidature, staccando pesantemente The Bear e Only Murders in the Building con 5 ciascuno.

Sul fronte cinematografico è interessante sottolineare da un lato lo strapotere dei blockbuster di quest’anno e specialmente del fenomeno Barbenheimer, e dall’altro il riconoscimento ai festival di Cannes e Venezia, con la presenza in gara sia del film vincitore della Palma d’oro Anatomia di una caduta sia del vincitore del Leone d’oro Povere creature.

Grande soddisfazione per l’Italia, che vede Io capitano di Matteo Garrone in corsa per il miglior film straniero dopo aver già vinto il Leone d’argento per la miglior regia ed essere stato scelto per rappresentare l’Italia anche agli Oscar 2024 le cui nomination verranno annunciate il 23 gennaio. L’Awards Season è iniziata!

Arrivano buone notizie per i fan del franchise post-apocalittico di Mad Max!

Infatti è stato da rilasciato da qualche ora il primo trailer di Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, nonché l’attesissimo prequel del capolavoro Mad Max: Fury Road firmato da George Miller nel 2015.

Nel video la protagonista è chiaramente Furiosa, interpretata da Anya Taylor-Joy, che assieme a delle magnifiche ambientazioni che riprendono il primo capitolo, danno vita ad un trailer pieno di azione, proprio come ci si aspettava.

Trama ufficiale:

Mentre il mondo va in rovina, la giovane Furiosa viene strappata dal Luogo Verde delle Molte Madri, e cade nelle mani di una grande Orda di Motociclisti guidata dal Signore della Guerra Dementus. Attraversando le Terre Desolate, si imbattono nella Cittadella presieduta da Immortan Joe. Mentre i due tiranni si battono per il predominio, Furiosa deve sopravvivere a molte prove e mettere insieme i mezzi per trovare la strada di casa.

Nel cast oltre alla già citata Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) sono presenti Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Alyla Browne (Tremila anni di attesa) e Tom Burke (Mank).

Il film è diretto dal geniale George Miller (Babe, maialino coraggioso) creatore della prima trilogia iniziata nel 1979 e del più recente Mad Max:Fury Road, indipendente dalla trilogia principe, che viene considerato tra i migliori film action degli ultimi anni.

Oltre a dirigere la pellicola Miller ha anche scritto la sceneggiatura assieme a Nico Lathouris, co-sceneggiatore anche del capitolo precedente. Sceneggiatura che era stata concepita ancor prima di Fury Road, ma il progetto fu bloccato per cause legali con la produzione che fortunatamente si risolsero pochi anni dopo.

In generale gran parte del team utilizzato per Fury Road è rimasto invariato e ha dato il suo contributo anche per questa pellicola.

La pellicola prodotta da Warner Bros. Pictures in collaborazione con Village Roadshow Pictures, Kennedy Miller Mitchell e George Miller stesso, verrà distribuita nelle sale italiane nel 2024 ma non è ancora nota la data precisa.

In attesa dell’arrivo nelle sale italiane, Lucky Red ha pubblicato il poster di Il ragazzo e l’airone, il nuovo film di Hayao Miyazaki, presentato già in anteprima alla Festa del Cinema di Roma e al Lucca Comics & Games.

Il maestro dell’animazione torna sul grande schermo dopo dieci anni di assenza, l’ultimo lungometraggio (Si alza il vento) risale infatti al 2013.

Il nuovo film, ispirato al romanzo E voi come vivrete? di Genzaburō Yoshino, è stato distribuito nelle sale giapponesi il 14 luglio del 2023, riscontrando grandi consensi sia dalla critica che dal pubblico, nonostante la limitata campagna promozionale.

Il ragazzo e l’airone è la storia di Mahito Maki, un dodicenne che durante la Seconda guerra mondiale si trasferisce in una cittadina di campagna dopo aver perso la madre in un incendio. Il ragazzo conoscerà un airone, insieme al quale esplorerà una torre abbandonata, ritrovandosi in un mondo abitato dai vivi e dai morti.

Il poster diffuso da Lucky Red ci sollecita già l’immaginazione, trasportandoci in un enorme prato verde circondato da una cinta muraria con una porta dorata, verso la quale si dirigono il protagonista e il suo amico volatile.

Il pubblico italiano potrà guardare l’opera di Miyazaki al cinema il 1º gennaio del 2024.

Arrivano buone notizie per i fan dell’orrore!

Infatti in una recente intervista di Empire, Robert Eggers, regista di The Witch, The Lighthouse e del più recente The Northman, ha parlato del suo prossimo e attesissimo progetto, ovvero il remake Nosferatu.

Per l’occasione sono state rivelate due immagini, una che dovrebbe essere la copertina del film e l’altra che rappresenta una scena del film , in seguito pubblicate sui vari profili social del film.

Prima di rivelare le immagini vediamo brevemente la trama della pellicola che ripercorre il capolavoro del 1922 diretto da F.W. Murnau e quello del 1979 diretto da Werner Herzog.

Trama ufficiale:

Nosferatu racconta una storia gotica sull’ossessione tra una giovane donna tormentata nella Germania del XIX secolo e l’antico vampiro della Transilvania che la perseguita, portando con sé un orrore indicibile.

Come si può notare nella seconda immagine, la protagonista è Lily-Rose Depp che veste i panni di Ellen Hutter. Quest’ultima, afferma il regista, “È ancora più fedele alla storia di Ellen rispetto alle versioni precedenti” per poi aggiungere, “e Lily-Rose è assolutamente fenomenale”.

Oltre alla Depp nel cast troviamo Nicholas Hoult che interpreta il marito di Ellen, Willem Dafoe, Simon McBurney, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson e per ultimo Bill Skarsgård che interpreta il terrificante Conte Orlok.

Proprio su quest’ultimo, Eggers, ha commentato, “Dirò che Bill si è così trasformato” evidenziando l’incredibile lavoro dell’attore, per poi aggiungere, “aveva voglia di onorare chi era venuto prima di lui. È tutto molto sottile”

Infine il regista parlando del film ha dichiarato:

“Sì, è un film spaventoso. Un horror, un horror gotico. È da un po’ che non vediamo un film horror vecchia scuola che fa veramente paura. Credo che la maggior parte del pubblico appassionato qui lo troverà”.

Non sono ancora noti molti dettagli sulla pellicola ma sappiamo che è in preparazione per il 2024, perciò non ci resta che aspettare maggiori notizie.

Lo sciopero SAG-AFTRA è appena concluso e già compaiono online i primi rumor di colossali nuove produzioni in arrivo. Deadline riporta della messa in cantiere di un film epico ambientato nel tempo dell’Antica Roma, e più precisamente dedicato al leggendario condottiero cartaginese Annibale. Questa pellicola epica non ha ancora un titolo ufficiale, ma già può dar da fantasticare agli appassionati di storia.

E il team di produzione è altrettanto kolossal: Netflix produce, ed Antoine Fuqua è incaricato regista su una sceneggiatura di John Logan, con protagonista nientedimeno che Denzel Washington. Lo sceneggiatore del Gladiatore e il regista di Re Artù portano a compimento un progetto che la star due volte premio Oscar Denzel Washington aveva in mente da oltre vent’anni, rinviato perché non voleva stare lontano dai figli per le riprese.

Oggi sembra il momento propizio di racontare questa impresa titanica ad Hollywood: Annibale è ricordato per aver attraversato le Alpi cavalcando degli elefanti, per raggiungere e attaccare Roma inaspettatamente da nord. Il film seguirà le cruciali battaglie condotte dal condottiero cartaginese contro la Repubblica Romana durante la Seconda Guerra Punica, alla fine del III secolo a.C. (sarebbe a dire il secondo dei tre scontri occorsi tra Roma e Cartagine, una prospera civiltà nordafricana che insidiò per secoli la supremazia dell’Urbe).

Denzel Washington vinse il suo secondo Oscar proprio in Training Day (2001), diretto da Antoine Fuqua, cui recentemente si è riunito nella saga di The Eqaulizer. Al momento, Washington è coinvolto nelle riprese de Il Gladiatore 2 (in arrivo nel 2024) diretto da Ridley Scott e con Paul Mescal. Lo sceneggiatore del film John Logan invece è l’autore di tre script candidati all’Oscar, tutti quanti drammi storici: Il Gladiatore (2000), di Ridely Scott, e la doppietta di Martin Scorsese The Aviator (2004) e Hugo Cabret (2011). Fuqua invece dovrebbe essere prossimo alla conclusione della produzione della sua biopic di Michael Jackson (2024), anch’essa sceneggiata da John Logan.

Il progetto su Annibale, che sembra esercitare un grande fascino su Hollywood, sarà prodotto da Antoine Fuqua, Denzel Washington, Erik Olsen e Adam Goldworm, insieme a Jeremy Lott e Frank Moll exec. La produzione rientra nell’accordo first-look della società di produzione di Fuqua, Hill District Media, insieme a Netflix.

Nella versione originale Amy Poehler dà la voce a Gioia, Phyllis Smith a Tristezza e Lewis Black a Rabbia. Tony Hale doppia Paura e Liza Lapira Disgusto, sostituendo le star del primo film Bill Hader e Mindy Kaling che si sarebbero scontrate con la produzione per via delle differenze di paga rispetto alla protagonista Poehler. La new entry, Ansia, ha la voce originale di Maya Hawke, attrice e cantante, figlia di Uma Thurman e Ethan Hawke, divenuta celebre come Robin in Stranger Things e vista recentemente in Asteroid City di Wes Anderson.

Il primo film era stato un successo di pubblico e critica, conquistando persino l’Oscar 2016 come miglior film d’animazione e tanto da aver fatto richiedere a gran voce dai fan un sequel, che si è fatto molto attendere prima di essere annunciato per la prima volta al D23 Expo della Disney nel 2022. Nel primo capitolo la storia girava intorno a Gioia e Tristezza, le due emozioni più importanti, che intraprendono un’avventura attraverso la mente di Riley, imparando a lavorare insieme per aiutarla ad affrontare le molteplici emozioni che la travolgono.

Anche il secondo capitolo sembra promettere bene, con l’introduzione di numerose nuove emozioni: tempo fa, oltre che di Ansia, si parlò di Imbarazzo, Noia e Invidia, tutti sentimenti con i quali Riley dovrà fronteggiare non solo sfide legate alla sua crescita, ma anche gravi difficoltà emotive, rischiando di perdere non solo i suoi amici, ma anche la sua famiglia. In merito ad Ansia, il regista Kelsey Mann ha dichiarato che “potrebbe essere la nuova arrivata nella squadra, ma non è certo il tipo che passa in secondo piano. Questo è molto sensato se pensiamo a ciò che accade nella mente di tutti noi”.

La nuova sinossi recita: “Il film Disney e Pixar Inside Out 2 torna nella mente dell’adolescente Riley proprio quando il quartier generale viene improvvisamente demolito per far posto a qualcosa di completamente inaspettato: nuove Emozioni! Gioia, Tristezza, Rabbia, Paura e Disgusto, che a detta di tutti gestiscono da tempo un’attività di successo, non sanno come comportarsi quando arriva Ansia, e sembra che non sia sola.”

Inside Out 2 è diretto da Kelsey Mann, veterano della Pixar qui al suo esordio alla regia, mentre la sceneggiatura è di Meg LeFauve, già co-sceneggiatrice del primo film. Il film arriverà nelle sale statunitensi a giugno 2024, mentre non c’è ancora una data ufficiale per l’Italia.

Lo sciopero degli attori di Hollywood volge finalmente al termine dopo 118 giorni.

Le proteste, iniziate nel luglio 2023, si sono concluse grazie a un accordo raggiunto dalle parti.

SAG – AFTRA, il sindacato degli attori nato nel 2012 dalla fusione tra la Screen Actors Guild e l’American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, ha avanzato per mesi delle richieste all’AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) sperando nell’incremento del salario minimo, nel potenziamento dei diritti residuali relativi ai film e alle serie online e nella tutela dell’immagine contro l’utilizzo improprio dell’intelligenza artificiale.

Il patto stipulato oggi prevede un aumento salariale del 7% sui minimi (due punti percentuali in più rispetto a quanto ricevuto dalla Writers Guild of America e dalla Director’s Guild of America), un “bonus di partecipazione allo streaming”, una copertura contro l’uso eccessivo dell’IA e dei miglioramenti sul piano pensionistico e sanitario.

“Abbiamo raggiunto un contratto che consentirà ai membri di SAG – AFTRA di ogni categoria di costruire carriere sostenibili. Molte migliaia di artisti ora e in futuro trarranno beneficio da questo lavoro”.

Con queste parole il sindacato degli attori, presieduto da Fran Descher, ha voluto annunciare i risultati appena ottenuti.

Anche l’AMPTP si è espressa attraverso un comunicato e ha sottolineato le conquiste guadagnate dagli scioperanti, augurandosi un ritorno sui set abbandonati in questi mesi.

“L’AMPTP è lieta di aver raggiunto un accordo provvisorio e attende con ansia che il settore riprenda a raccontare grandi storie”.

La proposta verrà sottoposta venerdì 10 novembre al Consiglio Nazionale per confermare l’approvazione, nel frattempo sembra essere definitivamente terminato il più longevo degli scioperi di Hollywood.

Come promesso, ha debuttato sui canali online di Sony e Columbia Pictures il trailer del nuovo film di Ghostbusters, di cui è stato rivelato anche il titolo: Frozen Empire in originale, tradotto come Minaccia glaciale in italiano, in uscita al cinema nel 2024.

Ed è proprio un calo di temperatura soprannaturale chiamato “Death Chill” quello che tramuta la paura stessa in una coltre di ghiaccio e congela le persone fino alla morte minacciando la calda estate di New York City nel trailer. Nel teaser che si apre sulle note di Cruel Summer delle Bananarama, l’Acchiappafantasmi veterano Dan Aykroyd spiega che questa forza ha il potere di spezzare le ossa e trasformare le vene in fiumi di ghiaccio.

Il nuovo film riparte dove ci aveva lasciato il precedente Ghostbusters: Legacy nel 2021, con la famiglia Spengler (figlia e nipoti di Egon, l’Acchiappafantasmi originale interpretato dal compianto Harold Ramis) che, dopo aver salvato una cittadina rurale dalla minaccia di un antico demone, si sposta per questa nuova avventura a New York City, teatro delle avventure dei due film originali degli anni ’80 (il revival al femminile diretto da Paul Feig uscito nel 2016 è da considerarsi fuori dal canone).

La sinossi recita: “In Ghostbusters: Minaccia Glaciale, la famiglia Spengler torna dove tutto è iniziato, l’iconica caserma dei pompieri di New York, e si unisce agli Acchiappafantasmi originali che hanno sviluppato un laboratorio di ricerca top-secret per portare la lotta ai fantasmi a un livello superiore. Quando la scoperta di un antico artefatto scatenerà una forza malvagia, i vecchi e nuovi Ghostbusters dovranno unire le forze per proteggere la loro casa e salvare il mondo da una seconda era glaciale.”

Nel cast tornano da Ghostusters: Legacy i fratelli Spengler interpretati da Mckenna Grace e Finn Wolfhard (Mike di Stranger Things), con gli amici (Celeste O’Connor e Logan Kim), la madre impersonata da Carrie Coon e lo strambo professore con il volto di Paul Rudd. Si riuniranno nuovamente a loro gli Acchiappafantasmi originali Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd ed Ernie Hudson, oltre che due new entry, gli attori Kumail Nanjiani e Patton Oswalt. Completano il cast il comico britannico James Acaster ed Emily Alyn Lind. Ad aprile 2023 è stato fotografato sul set anche William Atherton, il cinico e prepotente agente Walther Peck del primo Ghostbusters. Alla fine saranno in scena ben tre generazioni di Ghostbusters per affrontare la nuova minaccia.

Ghostbusters: Minaccia Glaciale è diretto da Gil Kenan, anche sceneggiatore insieme a Jason Reitman, già autori di Ghostbusters: Legacy. Jason Reitman è stato anche regista del film precedente, così come suo padre Ivan Reitman era stato regista dei due Ghostbusters degli anni ’80 e di molti altri cult come I gemelli, Junior e Amici, amanti e….

Ghostbusters: Minaccia Glaciale uscirà nei cinema di tutto il mondo a marzo 2024.

20th Century Studios ha rilasciato il teaser trailer del nuovo film sulla saga del Pianeta delle Scimmie, il quarto della trilogia reboot-prequel avviata nel 2011. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes uscirà negli Stati Uniti nel 2024, a distanza di sette anni dal capitolo precedente.

Prosegue la storia della colonizzazione della Terra da parte delle scimmie, scenario del cult originale del 1968. Dopo L’alba del pianeta delle scimmie (2011), Apes Revolution – Il pianeta delle scimmie (2014) e The War – Il pianeta delle scimmie (2017), il clan della prima scimmia intelligente Cesare ha ormai sopraffatto l’umanità.

Il protagonista del nuovo film è Cornelius, il figlio del leggendario leader Cesare, che conserva in maniera inconscia dei ricordi del mondo precedente: ora gli umani sono diventati esseri non intelligenti simili a selvaggi e la loro civiltà è ridotta a relitti infestati dalla natura. Ma sembra che Cornelius dovrà scontrarsi con nuove faide e lotte interne.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes è il decimo film del franchise, dopo le cinque pellicole originali uscire tra il 1968 e il 1973, il remake di Tim Burton del 2001 e la trilogia sopracitata diretta da Rupert Wyatt e da Matt Reeves.

Alla regia del nuovo Regno del Pianeta delle Scimmie c’è Wes Ball (Maze Runner), e il protagonista sarà interpretato da Owen Teague (It 1 e 2); nel cast anche Freya Allan e Peter Macon. Debutterà negli Stati Uniti il 24 maggio 2024.

Due new entry nel cast di Eden, il nuovo thriller di Ron Howard: Vanessa Kirby e Sydney Sweeney andranno infatti a sostituire Alicia Vikander e Daisy Edgar-Jones affiancando i già confermati Jude Law, Daniel Brühl e Ana De Armas.

La produzione di Eden, precedentemente intitolato Origin of Species, dovrebbe cominciare a fine novembre in Australia, affiancata da una piccola unità che girerà alle Galapagos, dove si svolgerà anche la storia. Essendo prodotto dalla Imagine Entertainment di Ron Howard, Eden potrà essere girato nonostante lo sciopero SAG-AFTRA ancora in corso.

Le musiche del film saranno composte da Hans Zimmer, alla sua decima collaborazione col regista. La sceneggiatura è basata su due resoconti diversi della stessa storia realmente accaduta ed è stata scritta dallo stesso Howard insieme a Noah Pink, già autore del thriller Tetris.

Il thriller racconterà di un mistero irrisolto, avvenuto nelle isole Galapagos, che Ron Howard sperava di raccontare ormai da quindici anni. Protagonista di questo racconto “cupamente comico di omicidio e sopravvivenza” è un gruppo eclettico di uomini, che decide di abbandonare la civiltà e di trasferirsi alle Galapagos, per provare a dare una risposta alla domanda che affligge da millenni l’intera umanità: qual è il senso della vita?

Al momento non sono ancora noti i motivi dietro la sostituzione di Alicia Vikander e Daisy Edgar-Jones, ma è probabile che siano sorti alcuni conflitti di programmazione. La prima ha infatti in cantiere due progetti, il thriller coreano Hope insieme al marito Michael Fassbender e lo sci-fi The Assessment, mentre la seconda è fra i protagonisti di uno dei lungometraggi bloccati dallo sciopero degli attori, il disaster movie Twisters, reboot di Twister.

Sydney Sweeney, dal canto suo, ha molti progetti in sviluppo o di prossima uscita, tra cui il cinecomic Marvel/Sony Madame Web, il remake di Barbarella e l’horror Immaculate girato in Italia. La giovane star di Euphoria e The White Lotus sarà poi al cinema a gennaio con la rom-com Tutti tranne te in cui è protagonista insieme a Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick).

Vanessa Kirby è invece apparsa quest’anno in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (Parte Uno) e sarà protagonista insieme a Joaquin Phoenix di Napoleon di Ridley Scott, in sala dal 23 novembre. Secondo alcuni rumor sembrerebbe anche in lizza per interpretare Sue Storm nel prossimo film dei Fantastici Quattro dei Marvel Studios, raccogliendo quindi il ruolo già interpretato da Jessica Alba e Kate Mara negli adattamenti del 2005 e 2014.

Come accennato, le due attrici andranno ad affiancare Jude Law, Ana De Armas e Daniel Brühl, che torna a collaborare con Ron Howard dopo il biopic Rush, in cui ha interpretato il pilota Niki Lauda. Eden sarà l’ennesima storia vera adattata dal regista: l’ultima era stata l’apprezzato Tredici vite del 2022 con Viggo Mortensen e Colin Farrell, a proposito dei tentativi di salvataggio di una squadra di calcio di una scuola thailandese rimasta intrappolata in una serie di caverne sotterranee.
